Little Golden Books were first published in 1942. They are instantly recognizable even today with their distinctive gold foil spines and unusual square shape.

Did You Know? The Poky Little Puppy is the best selling little golden book OF ALL TIME!

The founder, Georges Duplaix, wanted to create a more affordable children’s book. The first books sold for only 25 cents 👛 each, only raising to 29 cents in 1962.

The first dozen titles included The Three Little Kittens 🐱 , The Little Red Hen 🐓 , and of course the Poky Little Puppy 🐶 . They were an instant hit!

Many famous illustrators like Richard Scarry (Best Ever, Busytown), Garth Williams (Little House on the Prairie, Stuart Little, Charlotte’s Web), Margaret Wise Brown (Goodnight Moon, The Runaway Bunny), collaborated with Little Golden Books

Disney was the first brand to enter a partnership with Little Golden Books in 1944.

Some books have even incorporated product placement, like this Little Lulu with Kleenex pocket pack.

Many others brands or licensed characters have partnered with Little Golden Books, including Sesame Street, Looney Tunes, Mattel (Barbie), Pokémon, Star Wars (note the special designs on the spine), and Nickelodeon (Paw Patrol & more).

There were also different lines of Little Golden books published, such as the much larger-sized Big Golden books, slightly smaller-sized First Little Golden Books, and the extremely tiny-sized 😍 Little Little Golden books.

At The Book Bundler we try to accomplish the same goals as Little Golden Books with our bulk kids products - making reading accessible to all children.

Happy Reading!

"Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.” – Maya Angelou.
